One such capability is tipping on the popular social media platform of Twitter. Ethereum World News had mentioned the new capability of Bitcoin\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ethereumworldnews.com\/visa-and-mastercard-considering-an-increase-in-processing-fees-is-a-plus-for-btc-and-crypto\/\">in a recent article<\/a> but we did not get into the intricacies of explaining how it was now possible thanks to the Lighting Network.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>The Tippin Browser Extension for Chrome and Firefox<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Thanks <a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@rusnac14\/tippin-a-game-changer-application-7b73eb346648\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">to the launch<\/a> of the <em><strong>Tippin<\/strong><\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/chrome.google.com\/webstore\/detail\/tippinme\/knhkeligkfmclgkeedceenpopaleokfh\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">browser extension<\/a> for Chrome and Firefox, tipping BTC is now possible on Twitter through the Lightning Network. The latter is a &#8216;layer 2&#8217; payment protocol that operates on top of the original Bitcoin network. Lightning enables BTC micropayments through a network of bidirectional payment channels without delegating custody of funds.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The Tippin extension is still in the development phase but already functional. Once installed, the user logs into <a href=\"https:\/\/tippin.me\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tippin.me<\/a> using their regular Twitter account. This then creates a custodial wallet to receive and send BTC through the Lightning network. Members of the XRP community can tip each other via the XRP Tip bot. The availability of such a feature has even <a href=\"https:\/\/ethereumworldnews.com\/21000-xrp-donated-to-st-jude-childrens-hospital-via-xrp-tip-bot-and-coil\/\">helped raise funds<\/a> for the St. Jude Children&#8217;s Hospital through micropayments. Fans of the NANO cryptocurrency can also tip each other <a href=\"https:\/\/ethereumworldnews.com\/nano-nano-amping-adoption-with-twitter-tip-bot\/\">via<\/a> the Nano Tip Bot. The Tron community <a href=\"https:\/\/ethereumworldnews.com\/goseedit-reaches-new-milestone-with-over-18-million-in-tron-trx-tipped-to-date\/\">can also use<\/a> @GoSeedIt to send each other TRX micropayments on both Twitter and Telegram.
