Although IOTA uses the decentralized ledger technology, it doesn\u2019t use the blockchain as with other decentralized systems. Instead, it uses a <a href=\"https:\/\/ethereumworldnews.com\/what-is-iota-cryptocurrency-review-revolutionizing-the-tech\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) (opens in a new tab)\">Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG)<\/a> which IOTA calls the Tangle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With\nthe Tangle, a consensus is reached by verifying two previous transactions\nforming an interconnection of transactions where a new transaction is attached\nto two previous transactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Now onto Qubic<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Qubic is out to revolutionize, among other things, the smart contracts and <a href=\"https:\/\/ethereumworldnews.com\/iota-miota-price-takes-over-as-qubic-project-q-is-finally-revealed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Oracles (opens in a new tab)\">Oracles<\/a>.\u00a0 At the heart of this quest is a concept known as outsourced computation. Outsourcing computations see devices that do not have the power to handle transaction outsource the task to cloud-based servers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately,\noutsourcing computations fail to cover data privacy concerns comprehensively.\nTo cater for data privacy and security when outsourcing computations to the\ncloud, various approaches have been employed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For\nexample,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Fog and Mist\nComputing <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Cisco\ncame up with fog computing to bring cloud computing to the edge of an\nenterprise network. Unlike cloud computing, fog computing brought outsourced\ncomputation closer to the end users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mist\ncomputing was added into fog computing nodes. The differentiating aspect being\nthat mist computing provided a lightweight form of computing plus the\ncapability to connect with cloud computing platforms directly. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@markusgebhardt\/why-iota-qubics-outsourcing-computer-concept-is-becoming-revolutionary-87c93f0d3df7\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Markus<\/a>, a member of\nthe public IOTA project,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>\u201cThe Mist consists of the edge, that is, the very edge: the sensor and actuator controllers. Extending computing all the way to the edge can make a lot of sense depending on the network topology\u2026Mist computing is the result of everything computing everywhere.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Qubic\ntakes Fog and Mist as inputs to produce a superior system that breaks beyond\nthe advantages of both fog computing and Mist computing. This makes Qubic fit\nseamlessly into IOTA\u2019s framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For instance, to create a robust system, Qubic understand that there is no single device, especially those connected on the<a href=\"https:\/\/ethereumworldnews.com\/iot-firms-must-accumulate-iota-coins-to-be-relevant-in-the-future\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" IoT (opens in a new tab)\"> IoT<\/a>, that will ever be fully self-sufficient; they will always need to outsource a section of their computations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To\novercome the privacy issues inherent in other computation outsourcing methods,\nQubic allows computations to be outsourced securely, thereby facilitating a\npermissionless interaction between consumers and producers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>That\u2019s not all, Qubic is Flexible<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Qubic enables anyone to either create or run a task, whether on single or multiple external machines. The results of the computation are relayed back to the one who requested to run them. Additionally,  Qubic  has a pool of unprocessed computation requests which anyone can find and process them on behalf of the requester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/ethereumworldnews.com\/iota-pumps-18-as-next-stage-in-project-evolution-is-announced\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Qubic Protocol (opens in a new tab)\">Qubic Protocol<\/a> can be seen as adding a layer of reliability to oracle machines which have already implemented a decentralized and secure way to process outsourced computations.
