Here Is How BitTorrent Will Help Tron (TRX) Decentralize the Web

The wheel of progress is rolling in the corridors of the Tron (TRX) project with the recent addition of BitTorrent users to the Tron Ecosystem. This means that the Tron Community grows significantly overnight to accommodate the 150 Million or so active BitTorrent users. As of 2013, BitTorrent had 15 – 27 Million users at any one time and a total user base of approximately 250 Million. This means, the Tron project gets 250 Million users overnight and their corresponding computers that serve as peer-to-peer nodes in the BitTorrent network.

In the announcement by Justin Sun with regards to combining forces with the BitTorrent team and global users, he stated that:

With the integration of BitTorrent, TRON aims to liberate the Internet from the stranglehold of large corporations, give data rights back to the individual, and reignite the early 21st century vision of a free, transparent, decentralized network to connect the world, because the internet belongs to the people.

Decentralization is exactly what the Tron Foundation has been working on with the Super Representative election and now with the BitTorrent acquisition.

So how will BitTorrent help Tron Decentralize the web?

The BitTorrent platform is already a pioneer in distributed/decentralized computing. By using a file sharing mechanism that increases download speeds by sharing files in chunks or pieces, the platform makes sure that no single machine will have sole authority over any information (file) in the network. Once this is integrated into the Tron blockchain to enhance shared content and monetization, then Justin Sun would have accomplished what he set out to do as envisioned in the project’s whitepaper.

The Tron Foundation will probably add incentives to the BitTorrent users to assist in the building of the Tron Ecosystem. Perhaps via staking TRX, and having your machine running so that digital content can be stored and shared through it, the BitTorrent users will get some form of airdrops or rewards. What this will accomplish, is similar to what SiaCoin (SC) is working on. The Sia storage platform on the blockchain utilizes unused hard drive capacity of machines in its network, to create a data storage marketplace that is more reliable and cheaper than traditional cloud providers. Users who are hosts on the Sia network get to earn a constant income.

We can only speculate for now how BitTorrent will be used by the Tron Foundation. The exact plans of the Tron Foundation and Justin Sun will only materialize with time. But with BitTorrent being mentioned 8 times in the original whitepaper, one can connect the dots that the platform was in Justin’s plans all along.
